This enormous antique Moldovan carpet is a stuffy in the artistic use of yellow: as a field tone in an all-over diamond lattice, each unit enclosing a two-tone pinwheel cross; in a narrow border with triangles and pale blue arches. The pattern disappears under the border, giving it a sense of infinite expanse and making an already enormous carpet appear even larger.
