19th Century N.W. Persian Bakshaiesh Carpet
The sand field is filled with small flowers and shows straw projecting volute corners, while supporting an attractively abrashed royal blue “animal pelt” sub-field which, in turn, encloses a central straw octogramme sprouting powerful volute arabesque corner extensions. Ivory central square with surrounding rust “finger” fringe. Rust main border with square rosettes, dark blue barbed leaves and arrays of little geometric flowers (Karaja style). Solid weave. Good condition.
