1920s French Art Deco Carpet
An elliptical medallion of super-stylised flowers and leaves, with an outer floral surround, overlays a ground patterned with small multiply banded squares reminiscent to the Log Cabin motif in American quilts. This mixture of semi-floral and small scale, more or less abstract allover patterns is a feature of 1920s Art Deco, still retaining a faint echo of earlier Art Nouveau.
