Early 20th Century N. Indian Amritsar Carpet
This attractive c. 1900 Indian carpet gets everything right:open clear red field, eight lobe ultra-classic medallion with yellow accents and matching navy quarter corners; and a perfectly proportioned main border with a variety of palmettes, diagonal lancet leaves and curvilinear connecting vine scroll. The style is that of a Sultanabad, but the colors are spicier Indian.
