This is an extremely densely patterned c. 1920 high quality Sarouk whose swirling, thick red arabesques and attendant floral sprays nearly obscure the navy ground. The ivory-beige main border has two typers of palmettes and connecting forked diagonal leaves. Saruks of this period are almost always not as closely designed . This is a particularly well delineated work on a less frequently encountered rich dark blue ground in top condition.
