Agra #2801
The harshang pattern of several types of rosettes and palmettes, with smaller goose-neck arabesques and tiny leaves, arrayed on a dark blue ground, is as classic as 18th century Persian patterns get. Agra weavers have faithfully rendered it in a large square format instead of the usual long gallery format. The border with its skeletal turtle palmettes and diagonal leaves is quasi-Caucasian in inspiration. Overall, this is a really amazing carpet for the right room.
